As a Principal Project Manager within Major Projects, you will be delivering complex capital works projects on behalf of the department and other agencies that deliver positive economic and social outcomes.
The position will focus primarily on delivering construction projects by undertaking intensive negotiations with stakeholders, collaborating with senior officers in other government agencies and resolving issues associated with project development and delivery.

What you will be doing
- Be engaged in the end-to-end delivery of significant high risk, high valued projects that contain varied and significant constraints.
- Draw on your experience and understanding of legal, commercial and policy matters to provide direction for complex capital works projects.
- Provide high level strategic advice and develop innovative options to overcome issues associated with the state's role in facilitating economic development outcomes.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships and liaise and negotiate with senior management of other government agencies, community groups and the private sector on a range of key project issues.
- Manage competing project management priorities and achieve project milestones on time and to budget.
- Prepare high quality briefs and reports, including cabinet submissions and other significant policy and project management papers on complex issues relevant to capital works projects.
- Prepare comprehensive monthly project management reports and associated documentation, including but not limited to responsibility for cost statement management, time, and risk.
- Understand the key drivers and risks of differing procurement methodologies and develop strategies relevant to those models to ensure successful project delivery.
- Project manage the implementation of complex capital works projects, utilising various procurement methods including design and construct, construction management, managing contractor and traditional methods.
- Facilitate and or participate in workshops in the determination of the procurement models for contractors and consultants, development of Significant Procurement Plan and any associated strategic procurement requirement.
- Manage the performance of multi-disciplinary teams in the delivery of large and complex capital works projects including pre-design, design, documentation, tendering, contract administration and post occupancy evaluation activities to consistently meet project time, cost, and quality requirements.
