- Salary Range Band 6 $95,799 - $104,420 plus 11.5% Super (pro rata)
- Part time 2 days per week - Fixed term 12 month role
- Located at St Kilda Town Hall with flexible working arrangements possible

About The Role
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Building team part time for 12 months. We are looking for an enthusiastic and team focused Assistant Building Surveyor to carry out duties and activities associated with the assessment and administration of building applications and permits, inspections and statutory building control functions.
The role will also assist with the assessment and processing of dispensations, building inspections and investigation and enforcement of Council’s responsibilities under the Building Act 1993.
Duties
- Assessment and processing of building applications, report & consents and POPE approvals for approval in accordance with the Building Act, Regulations, BCA, Australian Standards and other relevant legislation.
- Attend to counter and telephone general enquiries by the public, ratepayers and professionals alike.
- Prepare Direction to Fix, Building Notices and Orders in accordance with the Building Act.
- Provide professional advice to applicants, professionals, ratepayers and the general public.
Skills And Experience
- Tertiary qualifications as a Building Surveying.
- Prior experience as an Assistant Building Surveyor in Local Government or private surveyor
- Highly developed research, analytical, oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to providing a high level of customer service
- An understanding of risk management principles and ability to implement these principles
