About the role:
Pedersen NT Pty Ltd are currently seeking qualified carpenters to join our busy team and form part of a wider construction team that is lead by a site supervisor to deliver housing projects in remote communities of Central Australia. This position will require you to work in remote communities for a period of time before rotating back into Alice Springs for days off. The role includes travel to and from your assigned community, accommodation and meals whilst onsite. You will need to arrange accommodation whilst in Alice Springs on days off. This is not a FIFO position.
Tasks will include:
- Interpret drawings and specifications to determine materials required, dimensions and installation procedures
- Selects appropriate materials for different types of jobs
- Prepares materials by machining, cutting sanding etc
- Shapes or cuts materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
- Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
- Assembles components of buildings such as foundations, plates, bearers, noggings, window seals door jams, trusses, beams, purling, rafters etc
- Preparing footings for concrete work.
- Erecting framework and roof framing, laying sub-flooring and floorboards and verifying trueness of structures
- Nailing fascia panels, sheathing roofs, and fitting exterior wall cladding and door and window frames
- Nails and screws all types of roofing this includes, corrugated iron, trim deck, clip lock etc.
- Assembling prepared wood to form structures and fittings ready to install
- Fits and installs window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware, interior and exterior trim using a carpenter’s level, plumb bob, and laser levels.
- Installation of all second fix furniture
- Prepare contracts for handover
- Preparing and installing of flashings
- Maintain a clean workplace
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $37.08 – $55.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 70 per week
