The Opportunity This newly created role will provide contractual expertise during the performance of key ongoing and upcoming projects in the renewables sector to ensure contract requirements are adhered to and the interests of UGL are protected. The Contracts Manager will promote, encourage, and ensure management and implementation of effective commercial practices including contractual compliance. The role sponsors reducing project cost and risk, whilst maintaining value for clients. With the support of the Commercial Manager, key responsibilities include. - Undertake procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, including negotiation of contract terms and obtaining internal legal approvals. - Maintain positive working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including UGL’s clients.. - Assess upstream and downstream commercial and contractual risks, identify and implement appropriate controls and escalate actual or potential issues to Commercial Manager and Project Manager. - Ensure upstream contracts are administered effectively to ensure responsibilities and obligations of the contract are met, and UGL’s rights and interests are protected in a manner that is timely, accurate and compliant. - Be instrumental in the drafting and submission of Variations and Claims, in accordance with the contract requirements. - Effectively manage subcontractors and suppliers including assessment of payment claims and agreeing final accounts. Requirements to be successful. - Tertiary educated in Engineering, Commerce/Business, Law, Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (or equivalent experience). - 5-7 years of relevant experience in upstream commercial. - Experience managing sub-contractors, suppliers and key stakeholders both internally and externally. - Team player that is keen to contribute and promote our GREAT culture The above qualifications and experience requirements are a guide to what we think will contribute to the success of this role, however if you do not tick all the boxes and feel that you could still be a fit then please apply, all applications will be considered.
