The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and focussed Billing Officer (BO) to join Australia’s defence Prime contractor and In Service Support Business Performance (ISSBP) team. You will report to the Finance Business Partner Sustainment.
The primary focus of the Billing Officer role will be the preparation of claims and organising the relevant source documentation needed to substantiate claims for payment from our customers. You will work collaboratively with our Delivery Team, providing a high level of support to ensure an accurate, timely and efficient billing/ claims process is achieved. The position will require you to actively engage with internal & external stakeholders, including the customer.
What’s Involved
- Understand the billing mechanisms under the various contracts within the ISS Business Unit (BU).
- Ensure that all costs are captured prior to billing.
- Identify issues which may prevent invoicing or lead to a customer dispute.
- Proactively engage with stakeholders to resolve billing-related queries.
- Prepare and process billing claims and related contract deliverables in an accurate and timely manner.
- Prepare and process invoices in an accurate and timely manner.
- Work collaboratively with the cost control, finance, and delivery teams to achieve shared goals.
- Establish & develop relationships by superior communication skills to inform stakeholders of status, issues, impacts, risk, and change; and
- Adhere to Austal’s’ Billing framework and methodology to effectively manage outcomes, performance, risk and change to achieve Austal and customer expectations.
You’ll need
Essential
- 2+ years’ experience in project cost reconciliation, claims preparation and billing.
- Intermediate+ competency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and preparation of billing worksheets to support claim submissions.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proven understanding of project accounting cost management principles with the ability to apply contractual requirements to claims.
- Strong people skills and ability to work in a team.
- Strong stakeholder focus and commercial acumen
- Hold a Construction safety induction (white card)
Desirable
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Business or working towards achievement of this qualification.
- Advanced competency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis
