PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Harvey Developments is seeking an experienced Bricklayer to join their carpentry and construction team. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the full-time position will be based in Alice Springs and involve working on projects that span across the Central and Barkly regions and remote communities.
Work will need to be conducted within the framework of company WHS, safety and compliance policies and procedures, delivering quality workmanship across every project.
REPORTING/WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
The position will report directly to the Operations Manager, and indirectly to the Managing Director.
Working relationships will be required internally within the carpentry and construction, plumbing, and executive teams and externally with subcontractors, suppliers, clients and stakeholders of Harvey Developments.
ROLE INVOLVES:
- Assist with preparation, positioning and distribution of materials and equipment.
- Assist with general clean-up associated with laying bricks, stone, concrete blocks and other building blocks to construct and repair walls, foundations and other structures.
- Mixing, transporting and distributing mortar and cement mixes.
- Moving and handling large volumes of materials on site manually and/or with use of equipment.
- Assembling and disassembling work platforms and scaffolding.
- Working with bricks, stone and blocks, cutting to size and shaping as required using chisel hammer or brick/block cutting machine.
- Carrying out concreting works.
PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
- Adhere to company workplace policies and procedures at all times.
- Perform all assigned tasks promptly, seeking clarification without hesitation.
- Always raise issues and/or delays with the Operations Manager or Managing Director promptly.
- Represent yourself and the Company professionally at all times, including wearing the uniform correctly, presenting yourself in a respectful manner on site and in front of clients and stakeholders, and ensure work sites and vehicles are always kept in a safe and tidy manner.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- Demonstrable experience as a Bricklayer
- General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Working with Children Check (Desirable/Willingness to Obtain)
- Current manual driver's licence
- A strong work ethic and ability to work in remote challenging conditions
- An ability to work autonomously as well as within large and small teams.
