The Role
ASD is recruiting for Executive Level 2 (EL2) Facilities Program Directors, Estate Project Directors & Estate Program Directors. You will play a critical role in designing, supporting and enhancing the infrastructure that supports one of the largest organisations within the National Intelligence Community.
The successful candidates will take an equally active role in both project work and business as usual activities and help pave the way for ASD’s future facilities landscape.
You will work in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects related to:
Business Continuity and Emergency Management - focuses on ensuring ASD can continue to conduct day-to-day operations that help to achieve the organisation’s mission. Pro-actively assess, identify, and address factors that have the potential to impact core-business functions. Providing the organisation with the knowledge, and resources needed to safeguard our workforce, and capabilities in the event of an emergency.
National Accommodation Management – ensuring ASD has equitable access to accommodation to enable the expansion of capabilities, and therefore resilience across the nation. A key part of this work involves building, and updating our understanding of ASD’s strategic agenda, changes in our operating environment, and the unique needs of the workforce. With careful and considered planning, drawing on these insights to manage real estate, accommodation requests, movements of different teams, and facility asset allocation.
Facilities Services - maintaining ASD’s physical assets and facilities to enable the workforce to conduct their work in an optimal setting. Achieving this through the management of contracts that support the upkeep of our growing estate and delivering a range of mission-enabling services. Facilities Services is the largest section in the Branch, and one that is growing in response to ASD’s rapidly expanding estate.
Estate Project/Program Directors - The focus one of these roles will be across two major streams of work. The first and main component will be designing and building a new multi-classification building in the ACT Region. The second component is activities in support of this project – meeting urgent demand for temporary low side accommodation, and medium and long-term activities to consolidate staff and capability into the precinct. The second role will have a focus on the delivery of state offices around Australia, which includes construction oversight, programme scheduling, and project management. This role is part of a section playing a critical role in delivering on ASD’s growing footprint across the country.
Your responsibilities and duties will vary depending on your selected role. They may include:
- Provide strategic and / or technical leadership to project activities
- Manage or contribute to the day to day running of a site or group of sites within a region or community precinct
- Engage with customers and stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for your team
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and the positive growth and development of your fellow team members
- Contribute to and assist with all areas of accommodation projects including planning, design, construction and initiation phases
- Demonstrate an understanding of the estate planning and development process
- Manage or contribute to the relocation of ASD officers affected by projects
- Project management of facility projects the majority of which are office fit outs.
- Work collaboratively with contractors, project staff and stakeholders
- Contribute to planning, financial, procurement, contractual and operational requirements of projects
- Create, and maintain a process that helps prevent, minimise, and recover from threats to ASD’s mission and operations
- Provide advice to the executive on issues that pose a risk across all existing and potential projects
- On-site quality management of project deliverables ensuring that facilities are being delivered in accordance to the statement of works and all security requirements are being met
- Contribute in strategic executive planning meetings for long term organisational direction in regards to accommodation
- Liaise with stakeholders on a regular basis to ensure project direction is adhering to the overall project aim and scope
- Liaise with sections across ASD to ensure ICT networks and hardware meet accommodation requirements.

- Knowledge and experience to contribute to the design, analysis, evaluation and resolution of complex program matters.
- A willingness to travel
- Have, or be willing to, obtain and hold specific licences such as white card, asbestos awareness, silica awareness, forklift, truck (HR) licence
