Greenskeeper / Groundsperson
The Ainslie Group has been in Canberra since 1927, and we are proud to have grown into leaders of the Canberra Community through our support of AFL, golf, and hospitability services. We have a well-established, and continually growing, team of over 150 staff and 45,000 members across both our Gungahlin and Ainslie clubs, some of which have been with us for more than 30 years!

Due to a period of growth, we are currently seeking a passionate individual for the role of Greenskeeper / Groundsperson to join our team at Gungahlin Lakes Golf Club, with an immediate start for the right candidate.
This opportunity is best suited to a self-motivated, enthusiastic, and punctual, hands-on person. This is a full-time position working within the golf course maintenance team, with additional rostered weekend work required. Remuneration for the role will be guided by the candidate’s skills and experience and paid above the Registered and Licensed Clubs Award rate.
Objectives
The core objective of the Greenskeeper / Groundsperson role is to help promote player satisfaction through quality maintenance of our grounds and communications. The successful candidate for the position will work directly with key staff members, including the Golf Superintendent, to constantly improve the golf course, club grounds maintenance facilities, and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- General mowing and gardening duties
- Maintenance of all golf course surfaces
- Installation, maintenance and repair of irrigation and drainage systems
- Identify and control turf weeds, pests and diseases
- Prepare and maintain all turf surfaces and surrounds
- Assist in construction projects
- Operation, maintenance, and cleaning of a wide range of specialised turf machinery
- Any other duties as directed by Course Superintendent or Senior Management
Greenskeeper / Groundsperson Position Requirements
- Certificate 3 in Horticulture / Turf Management (desirable)
- Chemical spraying certificate (desirable)
- Relevant experience in the turf industry
- Experience and knowledge in the application of chemicals and fertilisers
- Experience with irrigation and minor repairs (desirable)
- Competent with a wide range of turf machinery
- Effective communication skills with ability to liaise with team members and members of the public
- Able to work within a small team and, at times, unsupervised
- Self-motivated and punctual
- Ability to perform the inherent physical requirements of the role
- Hold a current Australian driver licence
- Valid, full-time Australian working rights
