The Duty Supervisor is responsible for over-seeing the daily operations of the facility including the provision of leadership and direction to staff and customers to meet daily operational demands and to provide high standard aquatic and recreational opportunities for the Hume City Council community.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supervise all service staff and contractors (Group fitness instructors) in the delivery of high-quality aquatic and recreation opportunities for members, user groups, guests and visitors, and the wider Hume Community; through providing welcoming, inclusive, and safe environments.
- Provide supervision and direction to all staff, to support their performance including coaching, mentoring and supporting staff for continuous development, and addressing any concerns in performance or conduct appropriately in line with relevant policies, procedures and guidance from the Hume Leisure Leadership team. This includes routinely communicating with relevant leaders around actions taken ‘on the day’ to support the ongoing performance management of staff.
- Manage all operational rosters whilst on shift to ensure appropriate service coverage is always maintained and breaks are offered to staff as per shift requirements set out in the Enterprise Agreement.
- Make changes to the rosters where relevant and required in line with policies, procedures and guidance from Hume Leisure Leadership team.
- Ensuring the facilities are clean, neat, and presentable at all times, to support a positive customer experience. Any issues should be promptly addressed to ensure they are safe, resolved and reported where required.
- Oversee the coordination of all areas across the facility to ensure smooth customer experiences occur, including appropriate operational set up / pack up for center programs, public and user groups, and ensure areas are appropriately arranged with signage and/or equipment, as required by and inline with relevant procedures and booking allocations.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- Ability to manage, plan, organise and prioritise own workload and timelines to achieve set objectives within specified timeframes
- Current Pool Lifeguard Award, Level 2 First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate
- Ability to gain cooperation and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Basic computer knowledge with proficient knowledge in using Microsoft Office software.
- An ability to deal with customer requests and issues that arise and provide support to staff with difficult queries or issues that is of a technical nature.
- A demonstrated ability in the provision of quality customer service and effectively meeting the needs and expectations of customers.
- Knowledge of water treatment requirements and pool plant operations.
- A demonstrated ability to provide positive direction and supervision for assigned staff.
- Understanding of WHS principles and implementation of safety standards.
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
- Experience in a supervisory role within a Leisure or Aquatic Facility, or relevant experience and work skills commensurate with the requirements of the work.
- Level 2 First Aid Certificate
- C.P.R Certificate
- Working With Children Check - Employee
- Current Pool Lifeguard Award
- Aquatic Technical Operations Certificate
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence
- The following qualifications are desirable for the position:
- AUSTSWIM Certificate
- Vicfit Fitness Leaders Certificate
