Brick and Block Careers purpose and mission is to promote brick and blocklaying vacancies and career pathway opportunities. This is achieved by minimising the barriers to employment through generating job openings that will continue to build a solid future for the industry.
Brick and Block Careers vision is to fulfil the career aspirations of young Australians and job seekers, by providing employment opportunities in brick and blocklaying.
Roof Tile Careers was added to the operations team for Victoria only. The aim to to promote roof tiling apprenticeships to increase the number of people entering the trade.
Bricklayer Connection Australia was launched in May 2024. The aim is to address the skills shortage of brick and blocklayers by finding ways to increase trade immigration. This will lead to greater apprentice numbers in the future.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the board, the Chief Executive Officer will provide leadership, strategic direction, and manage Brick and Block Careers operations in line with the national strategic plan, objectives, and organisational goals.
Location: Moorabbin Head Office, Melbourne.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership
- Manage and motivate staff across multiple states, ensuring clear objectives and KPIs aligned with the strategic plan.
- Ensure all employees have clear annual objectives and KPI’s that are aligned to Brick and Block Careers strategic plan and the organisations goals, and performances reviewed annually.
Marketing
- Implement and continuously review national marketing strategies to attract candidates to the brick and block laying trade.
- Attract school leavers, job seekers and career change candidates to the brick and block laying trade with targeted online and offline marketing initiatives, including careers expos and events.
Industry Connection
- Build and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders, government authorities, and participate in industry groups to influence policy and workforce development.
- Participate in industry groups and advisor committees to influence policy and direction to ensure the further development of a skilled workforce in bricklaying
Funding
- Oversee the levy collection process, ensure compliance with ACCC authorisation, and manage financial operations.
Corporate Governance
- Ensure compliance with the Constitution and Corporations Law and prepare reports for board meetings.
Financial Management
- Prepare financial reports, establish and manage budgets, and ensure the security and maximum return on investments.
- Administration
- Ensure efficient operation of IT systems, CRM, MYOB, insurances, leases, HR, and other administrative functions.
About You
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a senior management and leadership role.
- Excellent people management skills with the ability to manage staff in multiple states.
- Strong written, verbal, and negotiation skills.
- Financial management skills, including interpreting financial statements and managing budgets.
- Experience in developing and setting company strategy.
- Relationship management and communication skills to influence key stakeholders.
- Values-based leadership with a focus on honesty, integrity, and loyalty.
- Current Driver’s Licence and ability to gain a Working with Children clearance.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Corporate industry experience in construction or construction supply industry.
- Knowledge of the Vocational Education Training (VET) system and training pathways within the construction industry.
- First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
