About The Role
Based at Dry Creek SA and reporting to Executive General Manager – Building and Construction, this leadership role will manage the delivery of our Work Health Safety Environmental Quality program for the Building and Construction group of McMahon Services. This management role will mentor and train WHSEQ Advisors to ensure successful planning and facilitation of safe work systems.

Responsibilities
The role will include, but is not limited to:
- Leadership role in both the Building and Construction Customer Stream and the Corporate WHSEQ team.
- Responsible for driving compliance and achievement of Safety Certainty 2.0 Program KPIs for the Building and Construction Customer Stream
- Manage WHSEQ Advisors and operational teams in the effective application of our Business Management System
- Promote the Safety Certainty 2.0 Program within the Customer Stream
- Drive a positive culture across the Customer Stream consistent with our Safety Certainty 2.0 principles
- Train operational teams in the tools and functions of the Safety Certainty 2.0 Program
- Carry out internal audits, assist in corporate WHSEQ audits, and facilitate external project / Business Management System audits
- Assist with external certification / accreditations
- Ensure all WSHEQ systems and processes are fully complied with in practice across the Customer Stream including (but not limited to)
- Ensure project specific WHSEQ Management Plans are approved and reviewed by operational teams
- Develop Project specific Risk Assessment Registers in consultation with relevant stakeholders
- Ensure new / revised Company BMS processes are communicated to, and implemented by operational teams
- In relation to incidents:
- Drive a culture of timely Incident reporting and Investigation
- Report serious Incidents to the assigned Customer Stream Managers and National WHSEQ Manager immediately
- Investigate all serious incidents within the Customer Stream
- Maintain the Customer Stream incident register and incident report folders
- Mentor and assist WHSEQ Advisors and operational teams in effective Incident investigation
- Prepare Executive Investigation Reports presentations as required
- Prepare for review by the National WHSEQ Manager WHSEQ Bulletins / Lessons Learned for sharing across the Company
- Provide Monthly progress reports to their assigned Executive General Manager and National WHSEQ Manager
- Conduct Drug (indicative only) and Breath Alcohol Concentration testing in accordance with Company Standards
- Assist in tender preparations and presentations to customers as required including development of Management Plans
- Facilitate of Union Right of Entry visits with regards to Work Health and Safety matters
- Communicate regularly with the National WHSEQ Manager on project WHSEQ performance
- Report any non-compliance issues within the Customer Stream and any issues inhibiting their ability to undertake the role of Manager – WHSEQ
- Attend Manager – WHSEQ meetings and action any matters as necessary from those meetings
- Facilitate regular meetings with their Customer Stream Advisors to communicate general WHSEQ matters
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Certificate IV (or higher) in Work Health & Safety
- Building / trade / engineering qualification(s) are desirable
- History / experience in a site safety role preferably in the building and construction industry
- Experience in Senior Management positions
- First Aid qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft office suite)
- Able to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to travel to our work sites on an as need basis for inspections and audits. Our sites are predominantly based in South Australia, but there maybe requirement to travel interstate.
