A market leading Tier 2 contractor with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects, our client is now seeking a Commercial Lead / Contracts Manager to join their growing business in Sydney. It could also be a Senior Contracts Administrator stepping up too.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for leading the commercial function across projects and provide understanding to the project team while managing a team of 3 to 4 Contracts Administrators.
The role will be providing contractual and commercial advice, dealing with disputes, adjudication, trouble shooting on projects, interrogating commercial contracts, understanding project profitability and regional corporate overheads etc. The role may or may not deliver projects, could be more dipping in and out as well as running the larger scaled specialised construction projects.
The Commercial Lead / Contracts Manager will run about $130m to $150m of work per annum that the team is dealing within remedial and specialty construction. Individual projects from smaller up to $15m but sometimes up to $50m-$75m.

7-15 years +
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Commercial review of contracts, MSA’s and Agreements
- Manage all reporting and submission
- Instrument and maintain the subcontract management process
- Monitor and improve contracts administration process
- Liaise with stakeholders to ensure commercial requirements are reached
- Document control management
- Assist with HSEQ and Project Managers to ensure compliance with management systems
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Contracts Management, Engineering, Construction Management or similar
- Minimum 7 to 15 years+ experience in a similar role
- Understanding of project administration and project controls
- Knowledge of risks and limitations across legal agreements and requirements
- Ability to work part of a team as well as autonomously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships
- Superior analytical skillset and time management skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite with strong Excel knowledge
