The Opportunity

We're seeking to recruit multiple Site Engineers to join our Construction Contracts team within the Commercial and Contract Management Division and drive the management of construction contracts for new Capital Projects.

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) oversees a yearly budget of $2 billion. The primary responsibility of the Construction Contracts section is to provide contract management services for various government projects related to road, rail, marine transport, and building construction.

Our Site Engineers play a key role in ensuring the correct and safe delivery of the required scope in accordance with the project specifications. The Site Engineer is typically the first point of contact on site to address any issues with the works and monitor the contractor's activities. Work is delivered in small teams with the Site Engineer reporting to a Contract Manager and the team conducting the contract administration including site surveillance, variations, claims and progress payments.

About You

We're seeking a positive and proactive candidate with proven ability to work under general direction, independently or as part of a team, exercise initiative, set priorities, plan and coordinate activities, achieve objectives within deadlines and make timely and well informed professional decisions.

In this role, you'll demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, succinctly and accurately, in writing and verbally, to people at all levels in a professional and tactful manner including ability to successfully negotiate and resolve complex challenges in a timely manner, working within the department's policies and frameworks.

The successful candidate will have experience in managing the delivery of road or infrastructure projects within a complex environment and understand construction tasks and methodologies with the corresponding technical knowledge in project management, programming, cost control, and quality management.

Requirements

A degree level qualification in Engineering (Civil) or other relevant engineering discipline is required.

A current Driver's Licence is essential.

We have a 37.5 hour standard working week and the following are also available and widely utilised in the Team:

Flexi-time / Time off in Lieu - allowing flexibility for your hours of work and to balance other commitments.
Opportunity to be primarily located in one of our rural offices, Port Lincoln, Murray Bridge, Crystal Brook, Naracoorte, or Port Augusta.

Special Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to provide a National Police Check (NPC) prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.

If relevant, evidence of your qualifications and visa status, are required to be provided prior to engagement. Additional employment checks may be required relevant to the role being undertaken as outlined in the role statement and including evidence of your Engineering Degree.

We deliver projects throughout the state and works for these projects can occur outside of normal working hours, including nights and weekends. While most time the incumbent's hours can be worked from our Adelaide metro office within normal workings hours, occasionally, and dependant on the demands of the project, staff may be required to travel to rural areas of the state, stay away overnight for one or more nights a week, work during nights, work during weekends.
