About the Role
The Assistant Director, Interoperability (EL1) at the Australian Digital Health Agency (the Agency) is a full-time, ongoing position available immediately for the right candidate. The Assistant Director role will report to the Director, Interoperability in the Digital Solutions Division. The role requires project manager experience in the management and successful delivery of complex digital health related projects. The primary purpose of the position is to provide project management and coordinate the delivery of actions and projects in the Connecting Australian Healthcare – National Healthcare Interoperability Plan 2023-2028 (Interoperability Plan) priority areas and digital health related work. The Interoperability Plan outlines a national vision to share consumer health information in a safe, secure, and seamless manner. It identifies 44 actions across five priority areas relating to identity, standards, information sharing, innovation and measuring benefits.
The Assistant Director will provide high level engagement and relationship management to stakeholders both internal and external to the Agency. This position will also coordinate the delivery of project milestones. This role will facilitate technical discussions to understand the impact on delivery and communicate technical information to internal and external stakeholders including the Council for Connected Care (CCC).
The role will be responsible for
- Leading the coordination of actions and projects outlined in the Interoperability Plan's priority areas and other digital health-related initiatives.
- Collaborate and engage with stakeholders at a high level, both internal and external to the Agency, building and maintaining strong relationships to ensure the smooth delivery of project milestones.
- Contribute to the development of strategic plans, discussion papers and initiatives related to digital health and interoperability.
- Prepare and present progress reports, discussion, and agenda papers for the CCC and updates to the Director, Interoperability and other key stakeholders as required.
- Promote a collaborative and positive working environment that encourages creativity, teamwork, and knowledge sharing.
- Assist with the management of Agency procurement, contracts, and finance requirements.
Skills and Experience
- Proven Project Management experience working with digital health projects in a multi-vendor environment.
- Previous experience creating and managing integrated project schedules to align dependencies, track progress, and minimise risk.
- Flexibility to manage multiple projects and priorities, with the ability to pivot between tasks.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills to achieve project outcomes, anticipating and responding to needs, and ensuring clear communication with the project delivery team.
- Able to understand, negotiate, and resolve complex and sensitive issues within a project.
- Ability to perform a leadership role and be responsible for defining and managing the requirements, scope, and end-to-end delivery, ensuring compliance with the Agency’s framework, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to prepare ministerial briefs, agendas, papers, and reports. Demonstrates high-level analytical skills, sound judgement, and a strong willingness to learn.

Eligibility
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a higher clearance if required by the Agency.
- Ability to obtain and maintain national police check.
- Australian Citizenship is a condition of eligibility.
